"Benedict Arnold, Jr., b-Providence, Feb. 10, 1641-2, d-Newport, July 4,1727, and was buried in family lot, m(1) Mar. 9, 1670-1, Mary, dau. John and Elizabeth Turner of Taunton, she d-Dec. 16, 1670-1, m(2)-Sara, dau. Thomas and Sarah (Sherman) Mumford of South Kingston, she b-1668, d-Oct. 14, 1746. (Thomas and Sarah Mumford wee ancestors of Mary Mumford, who in 1782, m-James Westcott, of Stukely, of Stukely, of Stukely, of Jeremiah, younger brother of Damaris, wife of Governor Arnold. Benedict, Jr., was Deputy to the Colonial Assembly from Newport in 1686 and seven following terms. He was three times chosen Governor's 'Assistant,' and 1706-7 he was a Speaker of the House of Duputies. Issue, by Mary: 8 ch.: by Sarah: 3 ch.: Mariky, God's Gift, Sion, Mary, Content, Benedict, John (?), Caleb; by Sarah: Comfort, Ann, Sarah."
