Francois was crowned King of France in the Cathedral at Reins in 1515. Also known as Francis I, he was a member of the Valois Dynasty, and ruled until his death in 1547. He was both a contemporary and rival of King Henry VIII, and had taken Mary Boleyn as his mistress, the sister of Henry's second wife, Anne Boleyn.
