"John Robert (Rob) Armstrong of Brookston died Friday, November 7, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 10, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Smith and the Rev. Charles Hostetler officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Roxton. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Armstrong was born March 9, 1904, in Ladonia, a son of John Robert and Rena (McCann) Armstrong. He married Myrtle Viola Annette in Oklahoma. She died on November 8, 1983.
He was a member of the Brookston Baptist Church and was a farmer and a retired employee of Valley Feed Mill. Surviving are eight sons, Robert Armstrong, Jr. of Brookston, Martin Armstrong and Ed Armstrong, both of Paris, Harvey Armstrong of Blossom, Will Armstrong, J. C. Armstrong and Doug Armstrong, all of Sumner; Bob Armstrong of Tigertown; three daughters, Robbie Huggins of Brookston, Katherine Draper of Detroit, and Doris Avery of Paris; three sisters, Ludie Sparks of Powderly, Lucy Gentry of Paris, and Onie Orr of Saratoga, CA; two brothers, Ned Armstrong of California and Arch Jackman of Paris; 36 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, R. B. Armstrong in 1964 and Harold Armstrong in 1973.
