CPL John Gordon Adams, USMC, was serving with Company E, 2nd Bn, 1st Marine Div, when he was killed in action on 14 Sep 1951 while fighting the enemy at "Outpost Hill 749", located at the "Punchbowl" in North Korea.
For his action CPL Adams was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.....John paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country! "And he shall live in the house of the Lord forever".
John's grandparents, George H. Adams and wife Minnie L. Adams nee DeFee are buried in Hill Crest Cemetery, Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas. Several Uncles are also buried there. Minnie was a sister of my Grandfather, William Jackson DeFee, who is also buried in Hill Crest Cemetery, Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas.
