OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Thursday, 28 July 1983:
Mr. Douthit
Funeral services for Claud Douthit, 84, of Route 2, Elkhart, will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. U. Van Sickle officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
Mr. Douthit died early this morning.
He was born March 18, 1899, in Anderson County, and had resided in the area his entire life. He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Douthit of Elkhart; a son, C. L. Douthit of Palestine; three daughters, Iva Jean Welborn of Terrell, Madeline Fincher of Longview and Geraldine Curry of Palestine; four brothers, Ben Fincher, Boe Fincher, Buck Fincher and Jack Fincher, all of Elkhart; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Fincher, Arvel Fincher, Bennie Toole, Hardy Petty, Ronnie Sanders, Harold Mosley, Bill Willis and Francis Day.
In addition to all friends of the family, honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bailey Parker, Otis Parks and Olan Jones.
Condolence calls will be received at the Douthit residence, Route 2, Elkhart, telephone 764-xxxx.
