CARTER, Karin Lynn Cramer who grew up in San Leandro, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, after a short and courageous battle with melanoma cancer. She was 40. Mrs. Carter, who had been living in Brentwood for the past six years, attended Washington Elementary School and was a 1985 graduate of San Leandro High School. She formerly worked for Duffy's Ice Cream and the Otis Spunkmeyer Company in San Leandro. She was an avid runner, rising early to train with her friends for marathon races. She ran her first triathlon in June 1996. Her last race was on this past St. Patrick's Day, two days before she received the news that her melanoma had returned. She enjoyed coaching soccer youth leagues in Dublin and had never missed a practice or one of her children's games until this past month. She enjoyed vacationing in Mexico, Hawaii, Lake Shasta and Disneyland. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Carter; their children, Salina and Noah; her father and mother-in-law, Chuck and Enola Carter, formerly of San Leandro; and her brothers-in-law, Jacques and wife Tania, and Mark and wife Valerie. Services will be held Wednesday at Golden Hills Community Church in Brentwood. Private burial was at Union Cemetery in Brentwood.
