Pascal T. Jennings was born at Nashville, Tenn., May 28, 1847, and departed this life at home near St.Clair, Missouri, Thursday January 20, 1927, at a ripe old age of 79 years, 7 months, and 22 days. The deceased had spent the last 20 years of his life in the vicinity of St.Clair Missouri and was a well known and respected citizen of that community. On October 4, 1868, he was married to Sarah A. Cardwell, who preceded him to the great beyond. To this union six children were born - William F. who died in infancy; Mrs. S.D. Below of St.Clair,Missouri; Edward Melvin Jennings of Joplin, Missouri; Robert Ellis Jennings of Lonedell, Missouri; Mrs. William B. Duckworth of St. Clair, Missouri; and Harry Paschall Jennings of Union Missouri. On January 4, 1887 he married Isadore Hinson. To this union five children were born: John Lee Jennings of St.Clair, Missouri; Joseph Elmer Jennings of St.Louis, Missouri; Effie Isadore, who died in infancy; Thomas Roscoe Jennings, who grew up to manhood and passed to the great beyond 9 years ago; and Mrs. Fred Gephart who grew to womanhood and passed away 4 years ago. Besides the above children, he leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted beloved wife, one brother, A.L. Jennings of Washington D.C., one sister, Mrs. John Henniny of Ft.Scott Kansas, 21 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Great Army Of Republic. He was active and devoted member of the Baptist Church for 60 years and lived a beautiful christian life, and died confirmed in the tenets of his faith, believing that henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of reward. His was indeed a beautiful christian life. And when he came to the end of his journey and heard the call to come to his reward, he expressed himself as being ready and willing to pass out to that house not made with hands, that home eternal in the Heavens. He has left, to his loved ones, a legacy of loving deeds and an example of beautiful christian character. May they cherish his memory and emulate his example until they meet him again in that realm, where there is no parting and where death can never, never come. He and his devoted companion were permitted to I've together, blessed by the love and sympathy of each others society for more than forty years. He often expressed his appreciation to his devoted wife for the loving and patient manner in which she took care of him in his declining years. Such, simply and briefly told, are the prominent facts in the life of the deceased, and yet how little they tell his real life. He was permitted to life out the full three score and ten year's of man's allotted time but to recount the story of his life by deeds that he performed would require volumes for the telling, for his hours were filled with loving deeds for his friends and loved ones. These will be the golden keys that will open for him the portals of the glorious eternity. The deceased was modest, unassuming and made no pretense to show or be prominent but his domain was the confines of his own hearth, and in these sacred precincts he was indeed a king. Yet he was always interested in public affairs and believed in his country, his state, his church, his home and the school his children attended. He was always ready to lend his efforts for the promotion of the interests of either. He was faithful and devoted husband, and a kind and loving father and no sacrifice was too great for his stout heart to make, that would add to the joy and happiness of any member of the family. His beautiful character shone with brightest luster when he ministering to his loved ones in his home. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 22, at the Mt.Zion Baptist Church, near St.Clair, Rev. J.E. Short officiating. His remains were laid to rest in Mt.Zion Cemetery, where a large crowd of his old friends and neighbors had assembled to pay last respects to one whom they loved.
