John H Charlton died of a factory scalding accident at the age of 19 years old. He was living with his parents at 29th and Oxford Sts. at the time. Newspapers of the day do not mention the incident except for his death notice. The accident undoubtedly happened at the Luther Martin lampblack chemical factory, NW corner 29th and Oxford. This is where his father and brothers worked.
