Obituary - Christine Cannon Knickerbocker died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 1991 after a long illness.
Christine (Kiki) was born December 15, 1947 to D. James and Elaine Anderson Cannon. She attended Dilworth Elementary, Hillside Junior, and Highland High School. She enjoyed choice relationships with several teachers. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Utah, where she was a Chi Omega. She was involved in civic affairs, being a member of the Salt Lake Junior League and Assistance League of the Bay area. An avid tennis player, she often competed in local tournaments wherever she lived.
She loved people. Her many friends and large family were delighted by her wonderful sense of humor and style. She added beauty to her environment by her skill in needlework and in the restoration and furnishing of homes. Christine inevitably rose to any occasion with excellent preparation and presentation. She approached each holiday with enthusiasm expressed in clothing, decoration, and celebration. Many were touched by her charm, good humor, and faith, even in the last stages of her illness.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities in Primary and Young Womens. Her influence was felt for good among both the youth and their leaders. She had joy and tender friendships with the Spanish speaking people through her service as the Miami Stake Young Women President.
Above all, Christine was devoted to her children, Isaac Cannon Jacobsen, 16; and Abigail Jacobsen, 13. They had built a strong and stable family tradition with high ideals for scholarship and service to the Lord. Christine battled to live so that she could continue to guide and nurture her children.
Christine is survived by her children; her parents, her brothers and sisters and their spouses, James Q. and Rebecca R. Cannon; Carla Cannon; Anthony J. and Katherine W. Cannon, all of Salt Lake City; Susan C. and Bryant McOmber, Palo Alto, Calif.; and Holly C. and Richard Metcalf, Seattle, Wash. She was adored by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, December 11, 1991, at the Federal Heights Ward, 1300 North Fairfax Road. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the meeting house at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
