Helen W. Curto, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Avante' of Waynesboro at 1:30 P.M Mrs. Helen W. Curto of Waynesboro went to join the Lord on February 21, 2007 after a long illness. Her home for the past year had been Avante' Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mrs. Curto was born on May 6, 1920 in Gaston, NC, to William Henry and Norma Davis Welch. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Fred B. Curto, her brothers Agee, Beau and Wade Welch, her sister Mildred Schwartz, her stepdaughter Doris Curto, stepson Fred M.Curto and son-in-law William H. Bell.

Mrs. Curto is survived by her children Cindy M. and husband Garry Banks of Waynesboro, Terry M. Bell of Woodbridge, VA, Gary M. Curto of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and Ginger C. Seburn of Schnectady, NY; grandchildren Lyle and wife Tonna Lotts of Stuarts Draft, Daren and wife Jennifer Lotts of Waynesboro, Cheri F. Smith of New Port Richie, FL, Tommy E. Fitzgerald ll of Springfield, VA, Karina Curto of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Scott and Kimberly Seburn of NY; great grandchildren Amanda and husband Scott Farischom of Woodbridge, VA, D.J. Naples of Port Richey, FL, Nevin and Riley Fitzgerald of Pace, FL, Courtney and Caleb Lotts of Stuarts Draft, Megan and Haley Lotts of Waynesboro. She is gratefully survived by friends all over the world.

Mrs. Curto was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, both in the Waynesboro Chapter No. 105 and in the Occoquan Chapter No. 59 in Woodbridge, VA, and served as Worthy Matron of Waynesboro O.E.S. No. 105 in 1973-74. She was Past Worthy High Priestess and Supreme Instructor of Palm Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem, New Port Richey, FL, in which she was active for many years. She had many other interests, including ballroom dancing, traveling, crafting, cooking and baking.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, where in the 1970's she served as Deaconess-Superintendent and teacher of primary Sunday School and Bible School, and taught adult ll Sunday School class. In the late 1970's she moved with her husband to Florida and lived for 22 years before returning in Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Service on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 10:00 AM. with Rev. David Washburn officiating. A private burial will be held by the family at Augusta Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the First Aid Crew of Waynesboro, 201 W. Broad St. Waynesboro, VA. 22980. Friends will be received at the home of her daughter Cindy Banks at 37 Yonder Farm Lane, Waynesboro or call 540-942-3405 and following the memorial service.
