Allen Leon Parker, 82, passed away in his home on July 28, 2007. Mr. Parker was retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service and had attained the rank of lieutenant commander. He also retired from the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Shrine. He is survived by his wife, Mae M. Parker; four children, Allen Leon Parker Jr., Charles Parker and wife Bonnie, Margaret L. Wang and husband Jay, and Faye Gilbert and husband Reverend Wayne Gilbert; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeane Papit. The visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. J. D. Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church, 210 S. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
