George W. Adams, Sr., of Hickory Point, another one of the pioneer citizens of Miller County, died Sunday night of pneumonia fever after being sick only three days. Uncle George, as he was commonly called, was a splendid good citizen—honest, upright and a friend to everybody. He was a loyal and devoted member of the Baptist Church, and always deemed it a high privilege to render service and his mite to the cause of Christianity.
He leaves to mourn his departure an aged companion, two sons and a daughter—Steve Adams of Pueblo, Colo., and John Adams and Mrs. Jesse Livingston of near Hickory Point, besides a grandson, George Houser, whom he had raised from infancy.
At the time of Uncle George's death his immediate relatives were down with the measles and were not able to attend the funeral, therefore only short services were held at the Hickory Point Baptist Church Tuesday, after which interment was made in the cemetery at that place. The funeral sermon will be preached later.
