The funeral for Billy Joe Babb, 71, of Fairmont, will be 11 a.m. today at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Timothy Dorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. The casket will be open until service time.
He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Holdenville to Gene Garfield and Ruth Naomi Venable Babb and died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Oklahoma City.
He grew up in Holdenville and attended schools there. He married Mary Browning Feb. 6, 1956, in Ada. They made their home in Wewoka. He drove trucks for Wrangler, Coca-Cola and Jackson Cookie Co. They moved to Enid in 1974 and to Fairmont in 1996. He was a truck driver for more than 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of the home; two children, Billie Burwell of Fairmont and Rhonda Burgess of Burneyville; five brothers, Robert "Bob" Babb of McAlester, Wayne Babb of Wewoka and Raymond Babb, Jack Babb and Johnny Babb, all of Holdenville; three sisters, Marie Grimes and Fern Shockley, both of Holdenville, and Jane Meyers of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one halfsister.
