Gilda Guillory Bean
A retired employee from the Louisiana Visual and Hearing Impaired School, she died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 87, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Church Point. Visiting at Carney-Mackey Funeral Home, 1576 Robin St., on Monday, July 16, from noon to 7 p.m. Religious service at Second Baptist Church, 914 N. Acadian Thruway W, on Tuesday, July 17, at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Leo D. Cyrus. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. She is survived by a daughter, Marguerite Brewer of Forestville, Md.; foster daughter, Alice Wilkes of Baton Rouge; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wesley and Sandra Brown of Houston, and Earl E. Bean Jr. of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Cecelia Washington of Conyers, Ga., and Julia Moore of Gardenia, Calif.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Bean Sr.; parents, sister and brother. Pallbearers will be Brett D. Bean, Glen Allan Brown, Larry Campbell, Edward Jarrett Sr., Christopher S. Malbrue and Ben Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Bean Jr., Grady Jarrett, Walton Joseph Bean, Flower Circle Ministry, Sandy Berry, Michael Poullard, Eric Bey, John Wilson and Jason McSwain. She was a self-taught seamstress who made hats, wedding dresses and fine clothing.
