Floyd R. Wirey
Floyd R. Wirey, 83, died Thursday at Todd-Aikens Health Care Center in Franklin.
He was born in Brown County Dec. 23, 1905, to Alvin and Nettie (Coy) Wirey. He married Margaret M. Ellis June 30, 1927. She died in 1982. Survivors include three sons, Arthur D. Wirey of Trafalgar, Wendell W. Wirey of Indianapolis and Francis E. Wirey of Indianapolis; two daughters, Delores M. Bowling and Betty Jean Slone, both of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was a mill worker at Davis Industries of Southport for 25 years before retiring in 1977. He belonged to Mount Carmel Church of Christ, Trafalgar, where he formerly served as an elder and deacon. Later, he became an honorary elder.
The Rev. Clarence Taylor and the Rev. Jerry Pittman will officiate services at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
