Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 112 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, with Reverend Dean Hess and Pastor Tom Healey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Concord Cemetery, Garner.

Ralph C. Swale was born May 7, 1927, in West Union, the son of Albert and Ethel (Matzenger) Swale. He graduated from West Union High School. Ralph attended Upper Iowa College in Fayette. He graduated from the University of Iowa with his D.D.S. degree in 1952. Ralph spent one year at Forsyth Dental Clinic for children in Boston, Massachusetts. He moved back to Mason City and opened a practice for children in 1953. Ralph was united in marriage to Sylvia Ollenburg on April 6, 1958, in Garner, at the St. PaulÂ's Lutheran Church; to this union three children were born. Practicing for 34 years Ralph retired in 1987. Sylvia and Ralph then made their home at Clear Lake. Enjoying retirement, they spent a number of years wintering in Mesa, Arizona.
RalphÂ's hobbies were gardening, reading, hiking, and golfing. He really enjoyed bicycling, he participated in a ride across the United States in 1995, and road in Ragbri for twelve years; his greatest love was spending time with family and friends. Ralph was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
Ralph was very active in his church; he was a past member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Our Saviors Lutheran Church, both of Mason City, and current member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. He was a member of the Mason City Noon Rotary Club, Clear Lake Lions Club, Mason City Little Theatre, Board member of Kinney Pioneer Museum, he volunteered for County Cousins Program in Mississippi, South East Asia Refugees, and Opportunity Village; he was also a Cub Scout Master at the Garfield School.
Ralph is survived by his wife Sylvia (Ollenburg) Swale, Clear Lake; three children, son, Thomas (Sandra) Swale; grandchildren Ben and Gabe Sipson, of Woodstock, CT, son, Steve (Mary Kay) Swale; grandchildren Jordan Hammond, Justin, and Jayden Swale, of Omaha, NE, daughter, Rebecca (John) Cahoon, grandchildren Joshua and Kyla, of Iowa City, brother Albert Swale Jr., of Clear Lake, sister Mary (Bernard) Hamilton, of Maryland; nieces and nephews Charles Hamilton, David Hamilton, Rosemary Kallamyn, H. Andrew Ollenburg, Amy Koch, and Sue Johnson, along with other relatives and friends.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ethel Swale, brother Don Swale, infant granddaughter Emily Cahoon, and brother in law Spencer Ollenburg.
