Leon Byron Klemish, oldest son of Joseph and Minnie Plate Klemish, was born in Audubon County, north of Anita on October 19, 1916 where he grew up. He passed away June 16, 1984 at the Adair Community Health Center.

On May 18, 1939 he was married to Georgia Bain and they started farming near Guthrie Center. He enjoyed his livestock and crops. In 1948 he and his family moved to a farm in Adair County in the Canby vicinity. Hew was a member of the Canby Friends Church, serving in the capacity of trustee, elder, and as a member of the finance committee for a great many years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Pythians Sisters organization, Lions Club, township trustee, Extension Council and was one of the original directors on the board of the Adair Community Health Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Klemish; a sister, Elsie Akers, and a brother, Floyd Klemish.
