PEKIN, Ill. — Former Anderson resident Sara Pauline (Scott) , 97, Pekin, Ill., passed away July 7, 2007, at Pekin Hospital.

Born Oct. 24, 1909, in Fort Branch, the daughter of Lander and Edna (Meade) Scott. She married Wrater Gray "Doc" Burton on May 8, 1929, in Anderson. He died April 6, 2004, in Pekin, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Betty Jo Burton in 1931; one brother, Gilbert Scott; and one sister, Maxine Clark.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Runyan of Pekin, Ill.; four grandchildren, Cheryl (Donald) Lewis of Flagstaff, Ariz., Vicki Wallin of Fort Myers, Fla., Bradley Runyan of Pekin, Ill., and Lori Schmitt of Keller, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Lietz of Keller, Texas, Hilary Flack of Peoria, Ill., Christopher Lewis and Kari Lewis, both of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Natalee Runyan of Pekin, Ill.; and one great-great-grandson, Terrell Duffy.

She was a 1927 graduate of Fort Branch High School.

Pauline worked for the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson for 30 years, retiring 1972 as an inspector on the production line.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Fla., where she had served on the welcoming committee.

Pauline enjoyed shopping, cooking and writing letters to family and friends.

Her funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will begin two hours prior. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson with the Rev. John Wortinger officiating.
