Abraham moved with his parents, from
New Jersey to Ohio about 1838.
They then moved to Indiana about 1850.

Abram was married on March 17, 1853 in
Terre Coupee Pairie, later known as
Hamilton, St. Joseph County Indiana,
to Mary Jane Vorhes, the daughter
of John H. Voorhees and his wife
Maria Kershaw,
by Alonson H. Pidge, Minister
(a Methodist minister; the same
minister who preformed the
marriage ceremony for his sister
Mary Catherine Ammerman and
James Kizer Sr.) --------------

(listed under his wife,
Mary Jane Ammerman).

Abraham and his wife Mary lived
with their family for several
years in Iowa (about 1856 - 1859).

is spelled "Ammerman" (with three "m's"),
but on the headstones for their three
young children, the surname is spelled
"Amerman" (with only two "m's").

Abram and his family lived in
Terre Coupee, Ind. (later called
Hamilton, St. Joseph Co. Indiana),
and then in
New Carlisle, St. Joseph Co. Indiana.

Abram died at the age of 74 years
and 11 months.

Abraham's obituary was published in
the "South Bend Weekly (Tribune)",
newspaper in South Bend, Indiana
on May 20, 1905, page 7. It reads:

Abraham Ammerman Dead.
New Carlisle, Ind.

Abraham Ammerman, who lived east
of here, died Sunday morning after
a long illness. Mr. Ammerman was
past 70 years of age.

Cemetery, next to the (historic)
Hamilton Church, located on the corner
of Chicago Trail and Walnut Road in
Olive Township, Hamilton, St. Joseph
