OBITUARY:

Richard P. Akers

Richard P. Akers, 85, Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Sullivan, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 1991, in Tucson.

He was born June 29, 1906, in Indiana, to D.E. and Myrtle Lee Akers. He was former owner of a variety store at Sullivan. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucson, Elks Lodge 911, Sullivan, and Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Veada Gettinger Akers, who died in 1971.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl A. Akers; one stepson, Paul Schuler, Racine, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Karen Rowley, Brookhaven, N.Y., and Jane Repp, Woodside, Calif.; one brother, Lee Akers, Sarasota, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. David Patterson officiating. Burial is in Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday.
