Julia A. Earp was born in Shelby county, Ill, August 24, 1834. When about six years old she moved with her parents to Putnam county, Indiana. On December 31, 1854 she was united in marriage to James H. Butcher.
To this union were born, three children, of who two, Mort L. and William C. survive, together with three sisters and two brothers. She united with the M.E.church when twelve years old and lived a true christian life until her death which occurred April 14, 1906, aged 72 years, 7 months and 10 days.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M. E.church,conducted by Rev.G .W. Alley after which the remains were interred in the M. E. church.
