Hubert Jacoby, 70

Earling - Hubert Jacoby, 70, died Wednesday at his home here. He became ill while doing chores on his farm about three miles south of Earling. He was a lifelong resident of this vicinity.

Survivors include: widow, Lena; six daughters, Mrs Marie Klein of Dunlap, Mrs Mercedes Tilton of Sioux City, Mrs Severa Pauley of Manilla, Miss Benilda Jacoby, at home, and Mrs Marjorie Anhalt and Mrs Lucille Allen, both of Los Angeles; two sons, Bill of Stuart and Joe of Waverly; six sisters, Mrs John Petsche, Mrs Tony Kenkel, Mrs Matt Finken, Mrs Mike Finken, all of Earling and Mrs Anna Appel and Mrs Mike Foxhoven of Colorado.

Services will be Saturday at 9 am at St Joseph Church. The Msgr Peter Bissen will officiate. Burial will be in Earling Cemetery.

LIFE STORY OF HUBERT JACOBY - 70

Hubert Jacoby was born June 29, 1884 at Earling where he spent his entire life. He was united in marriage at St. Joseph’s church to Miss Lena Bissen, February 11, 1908. To this union was born six daughters and three sons, one of whom preceded him in death, Leander, having passed away in 1934. Surviving are his wife, Lena, eight children, Mrs. Ray (Marie) Klein of Dunlap; Mrs. Neil (Mercedes) Tilton of Sioux City; William Jacoby of Menlo; Benilda Jacoby of Earling; Mrs. Emil (Severa) Pauley of Manilla; Mrs. Edward (Lucille) Allen of Los Angeles, California; Joseph Jacoby of Waverly; Mrs. William (Marjorie) Anhalt of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and six sisters, Mrs. Anton (Catherine) Kenkel of Earling; Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Petsche of Irwin; Mrs. Anton (Anna) Appel of Ivanhoe, Minnesota; Mrs. Matt (Susan) Finken of Earling; Mrs. Mike (Mary) Foxhoven of Engelwood, Colorado; and Mrs. Mike (Magdalena) Finken of Harlan.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, January 29, at St. Joseph’s church at Earling with solemn requiem high mass, with the Rt. Rev. P.A. Bissen as celebrant, Rev. Basil Finken, deacon and Rev. Nickolas Gaul as subdeacon. Burial was in the local cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were six nephews, Urban Bissen, Leonard Bissen, Nick Bissen Jr., Joseph Kenkel, John Petsche and Howard Finken.
