...This is my Dad...

My father was born and raised in Twin Falls Idaho, The family moved to Willows Ca by 1929,then on to Paradise Ca in the early forties. Willows is where he met and married Mildred Conner.

When he was a young man married to Mildred he worked in the sugar factory in Hamilton City. It was tough in those days. The war was on and the depression years were extremely tough for raising a family. They had five children, Eugene, Maxine, Verna, Kenneth and Lorraine. He also worked in Whitehorse and Sitka, Alaska. He had bushy eyebrows and would have fun with the young ones by making one move up and the other down. He had a pretty good sense of humor. He was a wonderful father...

Elmer was a Building Contractor who built numerous houses in Paradise and other areas where he lived with his second wife Jeannie. He could cook a mean steak for his family. He had a wonderful tenor voice and would often sing at local nitespots(The Optimo Lodge & The Wildwood Inn). One of his favorites was "Oh Danny Boy" and another was "Stardust". And many more...

"What Makes A Dad"
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles' flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece complete,
And so He called it Dad.
