MRS. LUTE BENNETT DEAD.

Passed Away at Her Home Near Harper, Kan., July 8 - Formerly Lived at Edson Where She Was Well Known.

The following account of the death of Mrs. Luce Bennett is contributed by Mrs. C. P. Harris, of Harper, Kan., formerly of Edson.

"Alice Bennett died at her home seven miles north of Harper, Kingman county, Kan., Wednesday, July 8, 1902, after five weeks' illness. Her death was due to rupture of blood vessels in the head from which she suffered two bad hemorrhages. All the medicine and loving hands could do was done for her, but she steadily grew worse until death came to her relief.

She was so patient and cheerful to the very last moment of her life and she died in full triumph of a living faith and left a glowing testimony that she was going to mansions of rest. She constantly entreated her friends to keep her children close to Jesus. Her mother, Mrs. Pennington, of Brock, Neb., and sister, Mrs. Williams, of Denver, Col., were with her some time before she died.

Alice Pennington was born in Otoe county, Neb., Oct. 18, 1874. She moved with her parents to Edson, Sherman county, Kan., where she married Lute Bennett, Oct. 5, 1890; died July 8, 1902 aged 27 years, eight months and 20 days. She leaves a father, a mother, two brothers, two sisters and two daughters, aged eleven and three years, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Hygema at Betheny Mennonite church; of which she was a member, after which the remains were carried to the cemetery and laid to rest to await the coming of the bridegroom when the dead in Christ shall arise.”
