Mr. Wiley died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Lawrence, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Wiley. He was a graduate of Lawrence Business College.
Mr. Wiley worked in the Wiley family grocery stores and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He retired as a supervisor of maintenance, buildings and grounds at Kansas University.
He enjoyed fishing and Kansas University basketball. He traveled to Alaska and Hawaii and accomplished his lifelong dream to see the Indianapolis 500.
He married Mary A. Gorrill on Sept. 4, 1938, in Lawrence. She died March 20, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Michael, Seattle; two daughters, Martyn Umholtz, Denver, and Barbara Wiley, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Marion Willey, Lawrence; a companion, Pearl Miller, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.
