Clyde F. Barnes, 79, Hollidaysburg, died at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus after a brief illness. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of Francis and Margaret Irvine Barnes. He married Mary Teresa McNelis. Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Catherine Stapelfeld and Holly O'Connor; two sons: Patrick and Michael. Mr. Barnes had ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann Barnes. Along with his wife, he graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for the A&P Bakery in Altoona for 30 years and later retired as a supervisor from Marhoefer Baking Co. Mr. Barnes enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, vegetable gardening and attending the sporting events and special activities of his grandchildren. He also was an avid Duke University basketball fan. He will be greatly missed for his quick wit and gentle ways by family and friends alike.
