Mrs Elsie Tileston Spensley, formerly of Dubuque, died at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday at Mercy Hospital. The widow of Harker B. Spensley, she lived in Denver, Colorado, but had been visiting her daughters, Mrs William L. Gallogly and Mrs Frank Hardie Jr.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. at the Gallogly home at 1175 Langworthy Ave. Services will be held there Friday and private burial services will be conducted in Center Grove Cemetery. The Hoffmann Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
Mrs Spensley was born in St Cloud, Minn., the daughter of the late George L. and and Annie Lyon Tileston and the granddaughter of Col. Delos Lyon, Dubuque pioneer. She was educated in St Cloud public schools, at the Hillside Seminary, Spring Green, Wis., and at the University of Minnesota, where she belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma National Society.
She was married May 8, 1907, in Church of the Angels, Garvanza, Calif. During her long residence in Dubuque she was active in civic activities, being affiliated with the Red Cross, Mount Pleasent Home board and the Community Chest drives. She moved to Denver in May 1950.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs William L. (Anne) Gallogly and Mrs Frank (Georgette) Hardie both of Dubuque, and Mrs John M. (Mary Alice) Weir Jr, Stamford, Conn; a son Harker B Spensley Jr, Denver; and 13 grandchildren.
