Born in Wayland, Jan 31, 1906, the daughter of Leonard and Minnie Knolton Kuhn, she was a graduate of Wayland High School, and attended teachers training class.
Alta taught in rural school districts in the Dansville and Wayland areas for 3 years. Later, she was employed as a seamstress at the former Hickey Freeman Plant in Hornell, and following that, she assisted her husband, Harold, in the operation of the Agard Upholstery Shop in Hornell. She was a member of the Hornell United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Agard in 1998, one brother, Howard Kuhn, and her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lewellen Weber.
She is survived by two daughters: Margaret "Peg" (Joseph) Doorley of Almond and Carolyn Lang of Dansville, 7 grandchildren, 19 g-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
