Ilonka Maria Fischer

Ilonka Maria Fischer, 80, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Alexandria, Va., died June 14, 2007, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Mrs. Fischer was born in Hungary. She married her late husband, Col. (Ret.) Kenneth P. Fischer in Vienna, Austria, in 1947. Mrs. Fischer accompanied her husband to many military posts in the U.S., and in Denmark, Thailand, and Germany.

Mrs. Fischer volunteered for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Army Family Community Services, and Altar Society, in addition to serving as leader at various levels of Boy and Girl Scouts.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, John and Mary Fischer of Charleston, Susan Fischer and Cathie Easter of Madison, Wis., Patricia McAllister of Sacramento, Calif., and Kenneth and Judith Fischer of Parker, Colo.; her beloved grandchildren are Matthew, Paige, and Anne Fischer, Zak and Sarah Hanlon, Robert McAllister, and Taylor, Kyle, Nicole, and Mikaela Fischer.

There will be a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at Murphy's Funeral Home, Arlington, Va. The family will receive guests beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery beside her husband on Wednesday, July 11, at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.
