Alexander I. Buczkowski, age 91 years, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Alterra Sterling House of Bay City. He was born in Bay City on April 4, 1916 to the late Adam and Anastasia Buczkowski. Alex was employed with Dow Chemical as a journeyman pipefitter. He retired in 1972. Alex served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Alex was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4102 and the VFW. He was married to the former, Cecelia Sikorski. She died on August 8, 1983.
Surviving are three sons: Mark (Jeannie), Robert, Richard (Denise) Buczk-owski, all of Bay City; six grandchildren: Mark Buczkowski, Laurie (Joel) Weiss, Connie (Roy) Ballard, Becky (John) Kustuch, Shannon (Randy) Bowman and Erik Buczkowski; three great grandchildren: Stephanie, Josh and Katelyn; his sister, Irene Schultz of Bay City. Besides his wife and parents, Alex was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Kopiski and Gene-vieve Buczkowski and his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Buczkowski.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, June 22, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Alexander will lie in state in church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of ser-vice. Rev. George Serour will preside and the Rite of Committal with the Military Rites under the auspices of the Bay Veterans Council will be in St. Patrick Mausoleum.
