This was my grandmother. A frail woman with a strong spirit and one that was passed on to her daughter, my mother. If memory serves, she was born in MN * this bio is a work in progress as I am collecting info from the family in drips and drabs*
I rememeber she lived in this tiny little house in Bellingham, Wa. * The Fred Meyer parking lot is now where her house stood* there was their 1st house on the back of the land and they built a 2nd house in front of it. As kids my cousins and I would sneak into the out house and nose around the floors were weak so we had to be careful how we stepped. the house I rememebr was a cute cozy "gramma" house. with a iron stove and a ladder you had to climb to get to the attic. Her front door was never locked during the day and the house was always a bit too warm. Grandma grew blackberries, sweetpeas , forget-me-nots and lillies of the valley in her yard. Her house was 1 of my great adventures of my young life.
She was very much a lady and never wore pants in her life. I have several of her aprons she made for family members, made on a old treddle sewing machine.
She was a vegatarian so I was fed an assortment of interesting foods. Grandma lived a long life and her exit was serene. She'd just returned from being taken out to dinner by her son. She sat on the bed and said " Blue B L U E" .. and was gone. In an ironic turn, her daughter * my mother* died the same way.. wound down like an old clock. She was a link to the past and having her was truly a gift.
