Cheryl Ann Kelso Clark was the daughter of Donald Gene Kelso and Betty Jane Going. She was killed tragically in an automobile accident in Cedar City, Utah. She left behind a beautiful daughter.

UNTIMELY DEATH OF CHERYL ANN KELSO

CHERYL ANN KELSO was born 10 Jan 1956 in Chandler, Lincoln County, Oklahoma, the 3rd child of Donald Gene Kelso and Betty Jane Going Kelso.

Cheryl married PATRICK WARREN RICE on 22 Apr 1972 in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada; but they divorced on 29 Jul 1982 in Durham County, North Carolina.

Cheryl met and fell in love with ARLAN LEE GOUDY in 1987 and they had one child together: JESSICA

Arlan and Cheryl had their disagreements over the years and parted ways, giving Cheryl full custody of Jessica.

Cheryl married KENNETH HOWARD CLARK on 20 Jan 1994 in Cedar City, Iron County, Utah.

On 16 Mar 1996 with Cheryl, Jess and Kenneth's son as passengers, Kenneth, driving the truck, was speeding up a curvy hill one mile east of Antilope Springs County Road, when another truck approached at the crest of a hill and they had a head-on collision. Cheryl was put through the front window and Jess went through the small back window of the truck. Kenneth and his son had no injuries.

After Cheryl's death, a close friend of Cheryl's informed the family that Kenneth was abusive to Cheryl and drank a lot.

It was also reported that Kenneth had been drinking the day of March 16 and forced Cheryl and Jess to go with he and his son on a "drive" and they went in order to avoid another drunken argument.

Jess was just a small traumatized child and had a broken leg and some small inside injuries, but can remember being placed down on the side of the road next to her mother and Cheryl grabbing her hand to hold and looking at Jess. From this, we know Cheryl was not killed instantly, but the death certificate reads she was not alive when the ambulance arrived on the scene.

Years before, Cheryl had asked her only brother if he would adopt Jessica if anything ever happened to her. He promised her he would and he and his wife kept that promise.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, Duel Glen Going and Georgia Lee Cox; and Floyd LeRoy Kelso and Florence Elizabeth Kelso.

Since Cheryl went to her rest, she has been joined by her father and mother, Donald Gene Kelso and Betty Jane Going Kelso; a sister and aunt who both lost their lives to cancer, sister, Donna Yvonne Kelso; and aunt, Helen Yvonne Going Wilson; an uncle, Norman Leroy Kelso; and a cousin, Joel Tavis Coffey who was killed by being electrocuted while working.

Cheryl is my niece.
