Brenda "Sunshine" Abshire, 48, passed away Monday, June 11, 2007 in a local hospital.
Born and raised in Lake Charles, Ms. Abshire was a 1977 graduate of Barbe High School and attended Delta School of Business. She was in the grocery business all of her life. She was currently working in the meat department of Market Basket in Sulphur where she has been a number of years. She was formerly an employee of Marcantel's Grocery in Westlake. She was an active member of Christian World Church.
Ms. Abshire is survived by her son, Jeremy "Jay" Abshire; stepchildren, Tonya, Shanda and Little Allen LeBlanc; grandson, Talon Abshire; five step grandchildren; father, Joseph Edes Abshire; sister, Debbie Abshire; and brothers, Kenneth Wayne, Jesse Roy, Billy Joe, Donald Troy and Steve Abshire.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Abshire; grandparents, Odelion and Marie Abshire.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Doyle Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Abshire Cemetery in Crowley. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 4 until 9 pm on Wednesday.
