Elizabeth had the nickname, "Lizzie". She was an active and energetic worker like her mother. A compassionate person by nature, she enjoyed helping family and friends whenever she could. She suffered from health problems and was an invalid by the time she was 23. Even after she became an invalid, she kept active by doing handwork. Later in life, her health improved enough that she was able to assist her daughters in caring for their families.
Elizabeth married Thomas Griffin Winn on the 7th of December 1854. She was 17 and Thomas was 25. Elizabeth was his first wife. They lived in Lehi until 1860, when they were called to help settle Smithfield.
They had two girls – Elizabeth Christina and Adeline Aldura Winn. They had three boys. She named them in honor of her brothers – Lorenzo Hill, Abram and Jeremiah. It appears the boys were Indian children they bought. Lorenzo Hill (Elizabeth's brother) in his journal speaks of the boys in a very caring manner. They were living in New Mexico when Lorenzo Hill was there on a mission to the Indians.
They were active in the Church and joined the United Order when it was introduced in Smithfield. Thomas served as one of the six directors of the United Order in the area. His other callings included being a teacher and President of the Elders. He was active in civil affairs and served as a Marshal (fourteen years) and Councilman in Smithfield. He did road construction. Thomas was a Captain of the Minutemen of Northern Cache County. He assisted in defending settlers against Johnson's Army.
Thomas served a mission to New York in 1871.
Thomas had three other wives. Elizabeth Andrea (Nelson), Christina Victoria (Otterbeck or Skanchy) and Elizabeth Osborne (Benson). Elizabeth Andrea Nelson had Seven Children. Christina had twelve children. His fourth wife had three children.
Thomas died the 10th of May 1904, in Whitewater, Mesa County, Colorado.
When Elizabeth's daughters were married, she moved to Eastern Utah with them. Elizabeth died on the 10 th of January 1920, in Greenriver, Emery County, Utah. She was eighty-three at the time of her death.
