Aug. 13. – Seth Howland died at his home in this village Tuesday morning, at the age of 74 years. For the past nine months he has suffered from illness which his friends knew he must sooner or later terminate fatally, and early Tuesday morning he found rest from his months of suffering. Mr. Howland has always lived in this immediate vicinity, and was very well and favorably known. He took great interest in church matters, and at the time of his death held the office of deacon in the Congregation church in this village. In 1840 he married Adeline Monroe, by whom hi had five children, Monroe of Breckenbridge, Mich.: Harvey J., of Raleigh N.C.; Mrs. Sarah A. Elliot, of Brookfield; Mrs. Mary L. Knight, of Sauquoit; and Emma A., the latter dying in 1874. Mrs. Howland died in July, 1884. In Oct., 1885, he married Mrs. Laura Ferguson, who, with the two sons and two daughters above mentioned, survive him. The funeral will be held from his late residence Thursday at 2 p.m.
