Sarah Elizabeth Miles was born in Logansport, Indiana, Sept. 27, 1849. She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth, and on Aug. 15, 1872, she was united in marriage to J.I. Hipple. About two years after this, they moved to Calhoun County where they have lived during the years since.
To Mr. and Mrs. Hipple seven children were born all of whom are living: Frank, Katharine and Ray all of Lake City, Mrs. Mime Percy of Moorecroft, Wy., Ralph of Wagner, S.D. and Gretta and LeRoy both of Moorecroft, Wy. Mrs. Percy and LeRoy were unable to reach Lake City for the funeral.
In 1890 Mrs. Hipple united with the First Christian Church in Lake City and remained a devout and faithful member during the years that followed. She was a good woman.
Her illness covered a period two of years and during a part of this time she was bedfast. She had suffered greatly during the progress of her disease which culminated in her death, October 23, 1914.
Her husband J.I. Hipple, her seven children, her brother, Peter Miles (# 79361184) of Lake City and her sister, Mrs. Grace Scott (# 237104371) of Coon Rapids, Iowa, beside many friends and neighbors mourn the loss of this faithful woman.
The funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 25 at the First Christian Church and were conducted by the Rev. A.H. Bryan pastor of Trinity church. Interment was made in Lake City Cemetery.
