Virgie M. Watson Berwick had lived in Bridge City fifty one years. She enjoyed Cajun cooking and shared many of her favorite recipes with the community in articles published weekly by the Penny Record, entitled "MaMaw's Cajun Cuisine." Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Berwick; her first husband Samuel A. Watson, her son Samuel "Bubba" Watson, Jr., daughter in law, Janice Watson, her father, Clarence Magee and mother Nita Lavergne. Survivors include her son, Donald W. Watson and wife Eileen, son David L. Watson and wife Debbie, daughter Rebecca A. Belcher and husband Boyd, sisters Hilda McCormick and Ethel Rampmaier, several nieces and nephews; grandchildren Ronald Watson, Gary Watson, Michael Watson, Shawn Watson, Mark Watson, Vicky Henderson, Nikki Martin, R.J. Gardner, David Ty Watson and Jennifer Watson, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
