H. D. "Lizard: Love

Mr. Houston D. "Lizard" Love, 68 of Colorado City, died Thursday, May 5, in a local hospital.
Services were held Monday in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Rev. Ken Northcutt officiating.

Burial followed in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Love was born June 6, 1936 in Stonewall County to Houston and Minnie Polvadore Love. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Chacen Kade Fletcher.

He married Mary Beth Compton on August 16, 1959. They lived in Huffman, Texas from 1967 until 1995 when he retired from Anheuser-Busch and returned to Colorado City.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Love of Colorado City; a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Robert Fletcher of Huffman; two sons, Doug Love of Irving and Scott Love of Huffman; four grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Jameson, Kari Dawn Jameson, Hollie Dione Fletcher and Kaeli Page Fletcher, all of Huffman; four brothers, Wayman Love of Colorado City, Jimmy Love and Charles Love both of Baytown; and Eldon Love of Odessa; and his faithful dog, "Zoe".

If heaven had a window and God granted me a view, of all the beauty it beholds, I'd only look for you. I'd listen for your laughter that was always music to me. If I could only view once more the smile that warmed my heart, I'd treasure that moment as long as I live and we must be apart. Here on earth I search for you and pray to God for signs, and every day that passes you're still with me in my mind. I know you're happy in heaven; you've earned your mansion indeed. I love you and I miss you more than words can say, and what I wouldn't give just to talk to you today. I hope that you can hear me and listen to my thoughts, and wherever this life takes me you know I've not forgot. That once upon a time I was blessed and loved, it's true, and if heaven had a window I'd only look for you.
