But her life changed for the worse, on February 22, Haley was heading to school when her mother, driving impaired and speeding in the rain, loses control, and she ejected through the windshield, and was rolled over. She managed to walk a short distance before collapsing with severe internal injuries. But her mother, concerned with her personal items, never attended to Haley. She was rushed to hospital.
On the evening of March 7, 2 weeks after the crash, Haley departed from the world and rejoined our Heavenly Father.
Haley was 8 years old.
Her mother was charged with vehicular homicide, but received probation. As a result of this injustice, the Haley's Rights initiative was formed, first by investigating her death, then later promote public awareness for child abuse, and appearing in criminal courts to speak on behalf of the children
