The family of Helen (Nell) Crossman are saddened to announce her passing on Thursday April 12, 2007 at the age of 91. She passed peacefully with her family by her side. Nell was born in Dundee, Scotland on December 19, 1915. She met Harry as a serviceman during WWII and they were married in 1942. Nell came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 bringing with her two younger sisters, Vina and Rhona. Nell and Harry settled on the family farm south of Balcarres. They moved to Moose Jaw where she has resided for over 50 years. Nell was employed at the Providence Hospital for 25 years in the Maternity Ward (Nursery). She was known to many as "Scotty" "Crossman" or "Auntie Nell". Upon retirement Nell and Harry enjoyed several trips back to her beloved Scotland to visit the Marshall Clan. Her most recent trip was the summer of 2005. When Harry's health failed, Nell unselfishly cared for him at home for many years. After Harry's passing in 1999, Nell continued a happy and active life. Her family meant the world to her and she never missed a family gathering. She enjoyed her yard, her monthly trips to Casino Regina with her friends, and her fat cat "Boots". Aunt Nell's door was always open for a spot of tea and her famous homemade shortbread cookies. Nell was very active in the War Brides Association and a member of St.George's Anglican Church.
She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Eliza Marshall; husband of 57 years, Harry; brothers, David, Robert, Norrie, and Albert all of Scotland; sister Rhona Kay and husband Doug of Montreal; and brother-in-law, Alex Millar of Scotland. Nell will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Rachel Millar Scotland, and Vina (Laurence) Dick Moose Jaw and their family, Dianne Kolybaba (Glen Callfas) Regina; Ken Dick; Gail (Barry) Smith and Sandra (Tom) Rogers Moose Jaw; nieces, Judy (Boris) Temchenko, Heather MacDonald, and Alana Farrell and their families Montreal; sisters-in-law, Muriel and Flo Marshall of Dundee, Scotland; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. She will always have a special place in the hearts of her great-nieces and nephews, Angela (Barry), Brad, Lori, Tamra (Brad), Jill, Kailey, Samantha, Jaden, Kaylen, and Alysia, whom she loved so dear.
