DAR information: Nancy Dunbar Bemis, 2nd wife of Amasa Bemis, born in 1775, in Leicester, Massachusetts, and died October 1855, in Roscoe Township, Illinois, while moving West with her sons, and was buried there. She was re-interred in Oakwood Cemetery, Lot 210, Grave 3, Beloit, where a grave marker was placed by Beloit Chapter, DAR. Amasa Bemis (1757-1842) was a Sergeant in the Revolution. Nancy Dunbar was the daughter of Thomas Dunbar (1750 - 1796) and Lucretia Smith. Thomas Dunbar held the rank of Sergeant in the Revolution. Mother of 9 children: Charles, Amasa Jr., Percies, Sarah, Lucretia, Danforth, Foster, Dexter, and Lucy.
