Services for Mrs. Edna Pate Stevenson, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday March 17 at the Conger Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, La. Dr. James Sample will officiate. Burial will be in the Tulip Cemetery in Athens, La.
Visitation at Conger Funeral Home Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mr. Stevenson died Thursday March 13, 1986 in a Lake Charles hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Ringgold, La. and lived in Athens, La. most of her life. Mrs. Stevenson was a 1921 graduate of Northwestern University, with a teaching certificate, and was a former elementary school teacher. She was active in the Baptist Women's Mission Work, had taught Sunday school for 45 years, and had been a member of the AARP for many years. Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Stevenson, Sr.
She is survived by one son, Alvin J. Stevenson, Jr. of Karnack, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. George (Marguerite) Hall of Sulphur; and eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren
In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the First Baptist Church of Sulphur, La.
