J. H. Still Dies After Brief Illness Tuesday

J. H. Still, 83-year-old veteran Chambers County citizen of Beat Nine, passed away at his home in that section of the county about 7 o'clock Tuesday morning following only a few hours illness. His last illness was described as acute indigestion.

The deceased had been in splendid health recently and on Monday of this week was a visitor to LaFayette and a dinner guest of his daughter, Mrs. J. R. Hunter, of LaFayette. He mixed and mingled with friends in LaFayette throughout the day Monday and was apparently in the best of health. He was taken ill suddenly Monday night following his return to his home, and passed away several hours later.

He had made his home in Beat Nine for 41 years. He was a member of the Center Baptist Church and otherwise active in the affairs of that community.

Funeral service was held this morning at 10 o'clock from the Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. V. M. Gardner, pastor of the LaFayette Church, officiating. J. E. Cutler, local funeral director, was in charge of funeral plans.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Hunter, LaFayette; Mrs. C. P. McEachern, LaFayette; Mrs. W. E. Blanton, Opelika, and Mrs. Ida McEachern, Lanett. A large number of other relatives and friends also survive.
