William was born in San Antonio, Texas. Recognized as a highly decorated veteran of World War II, he served in the U. S. Army and U.S. Air Force as a bombardier participating in the bombing missions in the China-Burma and European theaters. He was a retired accountant for the Exxon Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Hermina Novak Hufnall in 1994.
William is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lea and husband, Dr. A. Scott Lea, of Pearland; son, William Hufnall and wife, Nadine, of Weimer, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Lea Harris and husband, Michael, of Katy, Scott Townsend Lea, of Dallas, Kathryn Hayes Lea, of Pearland, John Campbell, of Austin and Jeff Campbell of Houston.
