Lewiston - Monique L. Briggs, 55 of Main Street, died Monday, April 9 at Central Maine Medical Center with her family at her side after a sudden battle with cancer. She was born in Lewiston, August 6, 1951 the daughter of Emile and Juliette Lessard Chasse. She was educated in Lewiston schools including St. Peter's Grammar School and St. Dominic Regional High School. She worked as a waitress at the former F.W. Woolworth's for many years where she met the love of her life Richard. She also worked at Jones & Vining and Norm Chasse's Cleaning Service. She married Richard J. Briggs on August 7, 1971 and enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and going for rides with her husband in their Mustang. She also loved cooking, reciting her daily prayers and playing bingo. Her greatest pleasure was her family and she will be sadly missed but always remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother and sister. She is survived by her husband Richard; her daughter Kelly and her son Kevin all of Lewiston; 3 sisters, Lorraine Levesque and husband George, Evelyn StPierre and Monita Larue and husband Gerry all of Lewiston; 5 brothers, Marcel Chasse and wife Connie of Greene, Patrick and his wife Beverly and Lucien all of Lewiston, Fernand of Mechanic Falls and Emile P. and wife Doris of Lewiston as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. The family wishes to thank the staff of CCU at Central Maine Medical Center for the excellent care to Monique and the compassion shown to the family during this difficult time.
