William W. Fritsche, 53, Martinsville, died at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at his residence. Born July 16, 1953, in Greencastle, he was the son of William H. and Jane I. (Watson) Fritsche, who survive in Danville. He married Volitta (Miller) Fritsche on May 31, 1980. She survives in Martinsville.

He was the recreation leader at Plainfield Correctional Facility. Prior to that, he worked as the recreation coordinator at Indiana Boys School from 1990 to 2005. From 1979 to 1990, he worked at the Indiana Youth Center in Plainfield. He was the recreation leader at Pendleton Reformatory from 1977 to 1979. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Martinsville.

He was a 1972 graduate of Danville High School and a 1976 graduate of Indiana State University, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree.

He was a volunteer fireman in Hall. He was a member of the Morgan County Rural Water Board. He was a coach for Little Arties basketball and baseball, and was a referee for Monrovia athletics, the YMCA and Little Arties.

Other survivors include two sons, William Ryan and Tomas Jay "TJ" Fritsche, both of Martinsville; and three sisters, Sondra Matthews of West Virginia, Sue Fritsche of Indianapolis and Sally Monson of Arizona.

Services were entrusted to Costin Funeral Chapel of Martinsville, Indiana.
