Mary Ellen (Minnie) Quinn was born to Irish immigrant parents in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, but moved about age 9 to Canaan, CT. After her schooling she and her sister Katherine Quinn moved to Bridgeport, CT. Mary Ellen was a telegrapher for Western Union. She married florist Charles Dickerson Mackie December 14,1895 in Bridgeport. They moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, where they had six children. By 1917 they settled in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
