Patricia Gay 'Patti' Tate was born October 30, 1957 to Paul James Tate (1922-2005) and Doris Gwendolyn Willett Tate (1924-1992) in Richland, Washington. She passed away at age 42 in Ranch Palos Verdes, California after battling breast cancer.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother Doris (1992) and her sister, actress Sharon Marie Tate (Polanski) (1943-1969). One sister survives her, as does her three children.

'Patti' was divorced from her husband, a former basketball player with the Lakers.

Patti's sister, actress Sharon Tate Polanski, was brutally murdered with her unborn baby (Paul Polanski) , Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowsky, and Steven Parent, August 8th 1969 by Manson family followers. Their mother Doris was a devoted activist to keeping the Manson family behind bars, attending every parole hearing, as well as being an activist for the rights of crime victims. After her passing July 10, 1992 from a brain tumor, Patti followed in the footsteps of her mother with her advocacy.

Patti became a victims' rights advocate and attended the parole hearings of Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel in order to help prevent their release. She also represented heiress Abigail Folger at her killers' parole hearings.

Patricia had appeared as an actress in Ally McBeal in 1997 and in 'Turning Point' in 1993.
