Zydeco Musician. As an accordionist, he was a major influence on the development of both Cajun and Zydeco music. His album "La Musique Creole," was the first ever recorded by an African American Cajun band. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Bois Sec with duo partner fiddler Canray Fontenot, became legendary for authentic Creole music. They made appearances at the Newport Folk Festival, Carnegie Hall, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Smithsonian and toured Europe. In 1986, the duo won the National Heritage Fellowship Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the nation's highest honor for traditional arts. The Ching Veillon book, "Creole Music Man: Bois Sec Ardoin" (2004), is a biography of his musical exploits.
