Marie Louise Abend Jorden, 81, a homemaker and the widow of John Norman Kenneth Jorden, died of pancreatic cancer May 6 at her home in Gambrills, MD after a brief illness.

A longtime resident of Gambrills, Mrs. Jorden was born July 20, 1925, in Annapolis and graduated from Arundel High School in 1942.

She was a charter member of the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gambrills, where she was Sunday school superintendent for 15 years and a member of the quilters club. Mrs. Jorden was also a member of the Arundel Farm Bureau.

Along with quilting, her hobbies included crocheting, bingo, Saturday night poker games, gardening and violets.

Surviving are two sons, William Leonard Jorden of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert Norman Jorden of Riva; one brother, John A. Abend Jr. of Lexington Park; one daughter, Betty Ann Agovino of Newark, Del.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
